A walk around Ischia

Here I am, ready to visit the Aragonese Castle

Behind the walls built by the Aragonese who made it inexpugnable over the centuries, the Castle contains the synthesis of the history of Ischia from the Middle Ages to 1809, when it was abandoned by the population and transformed into a prison by the Bourbons.

Every step comes with a breathtaking view and fascinating remains of the ancient cathedral with the frescoed crypt of the Angevin period, the 16th century convent of the Clares with the church of the Immaculate, now exhibition space, the ancient parishes overlooking the sea, museum spaces and viewpoints over the island of Ischia and the gulf where a regenerating break immersed in beauty and history can be enjoyed.
